We’re back!

So the Fringe Festival was quite a success! We hope everyone had as much fun as we did. All the freaks got a little closer and last night we were all excited to see each other again at auditions for the remainder of our season. Yes, we have TWO more spectacular projects (at least) coming up. The first one, if The Flu Season by Will Eno directed by Jessika Malone December 8-11. And the second is boom by Peter Sinn Nachtreib directed by Mitch Massaro. We are so excited to start these and all the other projects that we have planned for Nashville this year. Check out more info on these shows and the rest of the Actors Bridge Season here.

We’re also super stoked to announce a new addition to our group, J.P. Schuffman! We met J.P. when he came to almost every performance of the Fringe Festival and was eager to participate and share his artistic ideas with us. We know he’ll be a wonderful part of the group.

We are having the much anticipated Kick-Off Party tonight featuring Jessica Breanne and the Electric Hearts! Want to come? You can buy a VIP pass here which will get you into the party and get reserved seating for the whole weekend. It’s $50, which with 50 shows over the weekend, that’s $1 a show. Also, don’t forget that regular wristbands are only $25, that’s .50 per show. It’s a great deal and it’s going to be lots of fun!

Just South of Gihon

"Just South of Gihon" a new musical by Chris Rayis is a fictional retelling of the lives of historical outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, a notorious couple of the 1930s Deep South who became infamous for their blatant neglect of the law and their young, vibrant personalities.  On a deeper level, “Gihon” adapts the Biblical story of Adam, Eve, and the Creator God to fit within the confines of the Gangster Age.  Bonnie and Clyde, once innocent children, adolesce into violent teenagers with a taste for rebellion.  The police officer Frank Hamer hunts Bonnie and Clyde throughout the entire musical, thinking himself to be the only righteous entity in a forsaken garden of sin.  Yet Bonnie and Clyde carry on a loving relationship while Hamer and his wife Helen slowly dissolve into nothing.  It takes heartbreak and hatred to break Hamer into realizing the truth: he may be the only one responsible for the lives Bonnie and Clyde have led and the pain his family has experienced.

I’ve seen Chris perform and I’m sure this musical will be as awesome and vibrant as he is on stage.

"Just South of Gihon" goes up on Saturday at 11:00 am in the Black Box!

Here We Go!!

Alright, here it is, the week of the festival. Erin, Julianne, and I (Hayley) had our first light hanging experience yesterday. Thank you to Mitch, Jessika, Michael, and Ricardo for defining so many new terms for us. We have a few more rehearsals and tech for some of the bigger acts. Then, it all begins on Thursday with the Kick-Off Party (Do you have your VIP pass yet?). There are so many great acts this weekend and I wanted to tell you about some of them. Make sure to keep reading this week. I’ll be posting media and information on all of the exciting performances.

I’m going to start out with the amazing aerial dancers that will be performing twice. Once as featured dancers in the encore performance of Serendipity 3, which was part of the Warhol Live Exhibit at the Frist. This event will happen at 8:15pm on Friday in the Black Box. Then, on Saturday, they will premiering a new piece with a new aerial dance apparatus. You really don’t want to miss either of these performances. I know that I can’t wait to see these.

FALL is a dance company that specializes in aerial dance, site specific work, and more traditional dance concerts. Their pieces are absolutely phenomenal and we are so excited to have them part the weekend’s events. Check out their website for some videos and more info about them and their art.
